Day One

May 1st. I guess an appropriate first post would have been a primer into who I am, what I plan on doing, and how I plan on doing so…before the first day of my actual fast. However, I didn’t think to make a tumblr for this until just now, so let’s see if I can briefly cover those things without boring too many of you.

First things first: Me. I’m a junior at a US University. Female. 200 pounds at 5’10. Former athlete and trying to get in much better physical and mental health before I go back home for the summer in two months. I’ve done a ten-day juice fast in the past and I made it through the ten days pretty easily. The problem is, I was so much more excited then…now, I’m just really hoping to stay on track.

I’ll be drinking nothing but fruit and vegetable juice for 60 days. I’ve done lots of research into all sorts of juice fasts and I’ve found that drinking mostly green juices at a 80% veggie/20% fruit ratio is the way to go. For the first five days I won’t be doing any extra exercise besides my usual biking and walking to class. On day five I’m starting a daily…yes daily, hot yoga regimen that will end right at the end of my fast. Again, we’re talking mental and physical work here.

Okay so day 1/60. I’m drinking a tomato/celery/cucumber/orange/apple/zucchini juice. It’s been an alright day. So far I’ve had a few strong cravings but as long as I keep some juice near me to sip I seem to be alright. I’ve had two halves of a cigarette (also working on quitting that) and a good amount of water. I’m about to experiment with juicing green beans and cabbage to take to work with me tonight, which sounds gross but is supposed to be really good nutritionally, especially for people with a family history of diabetes, which I do. Anywho, as always shoot me a message if you can think of anything you want me to cover. -juicegirl
